Description

Country of Origin: Spain

It all begins with the secret Spanish family recipe used to create the rich complexity of Licor 43. Sourced from around the Mediterranean basin, each of these citrus fruits and botanicals play their part in imparting flavour to the liqueur. Once producers at Diego Zamora are happy with the quality of the ingredients, the infusion process begins. Deliciously ripe citrus fruits are infused with selected botanicals and put into a mixture of alcohol, water and the best quality sugars, and allowed to steep and release their flavours and essential oils.

Once the correct flavour has been achieved, the macerate is aged from 6 to 9 months to allow the flavours to further mellow and combine. This aged product is then combined with other aged reserves in a blending system designed to guarantee that Licor 43 maintains its famous taste consistently across the years.

Produced only in Cartagena, Spain, the name Licor 43 is inspired by its original recipe which has 43 different ingredients. The still family-owned company, Diego Zamora S.A., founded in 1946, developed this recipe over the last 60 years. To this day, only a handful of members in the family is privy to these ingredients.

Licor 43 is the world’s no. 1 premium Spanish liqueur.

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Beautiful gold.

Aroma: Light citrus, vanilla, extremely light touch of warm spice, but not spicy. Possible hints of saffron.

Tasted Neat: Butterscotch, rich buttery toffee, lush, decadent, sweetened like honey without the sharp sugary edge. Lingering sweetness of juicy light flavoured citrus. Faintest hint of floral.

Mouth Feel: Medium without venturing to the thick syrupy side.
