Spring Seed McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Cockscomb’ 

Spring Seed Wines are made from grapples lovingly grown in the Bosworth family’s organic vineyards, located in the premium wine region of McLaren Vale, South Australia. The vineyards were established in the early 1970s by Peter and Anthea Bosworth, and are now owned and run by their son Joch and partner Louise Hemsley-Smith, who began the conversion to organic viticulture in 1995.

McLaren Vale makes great Cabernets because in that region, they seem to get nice ripe tannins and herbal intrigue without the greenness.  The nose is bright and fresh and bursting with blue fruits (violets and red currants ) and the wine has terrific tannins (without being too stiff) and a lovely, persistent finish. All in all a great example of a Cabernet.

Tasting Note:

The colour of the Cockscomb is almost purple. On the nose it shows bright blue fruits; violet and red currants. The palate is bright and fresh too, with red fruit and a very slight hint of varietal mint. This red wine has fine tannin and a very pleasing length.
